One of the joys of getting older is feeling our bodies get a little stiffer and less flexible! π
This is happening inside as well and some of the vital arteries around our hearts are losing their flexibility as the years pass. Our hearts have to pump harder to move the same amount of blood and this pushes up our blood pressure and builds up our heart muscle because of the extra workload!π©Έ
A wellness program that only involves gym and strength work ignores this and leaves us exposed to potential heart health issues as we age!
Thatβs why some daily low-moderate exercise is critical to keep the heart healthy and happy! β€οΈ (more details in the podcast)
[X] Intensity πΊ:
Low – Moderate is ideal (high intensity too often puts additional stress on the heart) at a level ie: zone 2 where you just hold a conversation and can still breathe through your nose π
[X] Type π΄ββοΈ:
Lots of options here, but walking, cycling & swimming are great ways to maintain the right intensity for the duration needed to get benefits
[X] Frequency β±:
Daily for 45-60 minutes in addition to your regular gym/strength workouts. Morning is ideal to reset the circadian rhythm
Give your β€οΈ heart health some love and enjoy the long happy healthy life you deserve!
