Chapter 4: Scale Obsession

Norm had been making steady progress with his health and wellness journey, but he began to develop an obsession with checking his weight on the scale. He would weigh himself multiple times a day, becoming frustrated and confused when the number on the scale went up, even by the smallest amount.

Sheila noticed that Norm had developed this obsession and tried to talk to him about it, explaining that weight fluctuates naturally and that it’s not healthy to weigh yourself so often. She suggested that he should only weigh himself once a week, to track his progress. But Norm couldn’t shake off the obsession, he would weigh himself every chance he got, and he would get upset if the number went up.

Buddy, Norm’s son, noticed that his dad was always stepping on the scale and would ask him why he was doing it. Norm couldn’t explain it to him, he just felt that he needed to know his weight every day.

Nancy, Norm’s daughter, was worried about her dad’s well-being, she could see that the constant weighing was affecting his mood and his progress. She wished he would listen to the people who cared about him and not get so caught up in the numbers on the scale.

Charlie, Norm’s boss, had noticed that Norm’s work performance had been slipping lately, but he didn’t realize the reason behind it. He thought that Norm was just going through a rough patch and didn’t think much of it. He didn’t realize that Norm’s obsession with checking his weight on the scale was affecting his work and well-being until Norm’s family and friends brought it to his attention. He understood the importance of Norm’s health and well-being, and he started to support him in his journey by encouraging him to take breaks and not to overwork himself.

Norm finally realized that he had become too fixated on the numbers on the scale and was missing the bigger picture. He was making progress in other areas, such as improved energy levels and overall health. He decided to listen to the advice of his family and friends, and he started weighing himself once a week. He also started to focus on other metrics such as measurements, and how he felt in his clothes. He realized that the scale is just one tool to measure progress and it’s not the end all be all. He learned that true progress is about feeling better and being healthier, not just about the numbers on the scale.
